Welcome

As the president of the Department of Accounting and Finance of the International Hellenic University and representing all the staff of the Department (teaching, administrative and technical staff), I would like to welcome you to the official website of the Department (af.ihu.gr).

The Department of Accounting and Finance of the International Hellenic University (IHU) welcomes the 143 freshmen with great pleasure, congratulates them on their success in choosing Accounting and Finance as their first preference and wishes them complete and effective studies. Moreover, we wish them to take advantage of their studies time to acquire the right education, knowledge, skills and qualifications, towards personal development and future professional career and advancement. The Department of Accounting and Finance is a multitudinousness department with a long-standing presence at the former TEI of Kavala and now as International Hellenic University. The privileged position of the accountant and economist graduate in the labor market has been known for decades. The technological developments that have ringed the alarm in dozens of professions, have not affected the experienced and technically proficient graduate of our Department. As a proof, our graduates have a high employment rate in professions related to their studies subject. In the last three decades, hundreds of graduates of our Department have been recognized and excelled in the professional field in Greece and abroad. We are very proud and confident that this will be continued with our new graduates.

Our Department participates in noumerous international networks which provide the opportunity for students to travel and stay in foreign destinations. The same applies to the students of the cooperating institutions, especially during the spring semester.

Our Department has experienced and excellent academic staff, not only in the narrow subjects of Accounting and Finance, but also in the subjects of Business Administration, Statistics, Law, Foreign Languages, etc. We also collaborate with dedicated and successful scientists from the wider region who are key-contributors to his successful route. Moreover, the administrative staff, centered on the Department's Secretariat, is a key pillar of the continuous service to the students.

An important advantage of our Department is the modern and quality curriculum, which is capable to provide our students specialized academic knowledge and skills based on modern developments in the field of Accounting and Finance. More specifically, the curriculum includes courses that deal with contemporary challenges and innovations in accounting and financial management of businesses. In addition, it gives special emphasis on the practical application of academic knowledge by integrating courses through the use of IT technologies. These special characteristics of our curriculum explain its attractiveness, as it is reflected in its increased popularity.

By today, our Department operates three research laboratories and organizes an annual international scientific conference. Moreover, it publishes a scientific journal and partcipates in numerous research projects. In recent years, 3 master's degree programs have been offered which welcome more than 60 applicants each year. More information is available at the respective links.
